Population problems
Abstract
Nowadays, population issues concern all countries, with India tackling overpopulation (facing woes but gaining from agriculture/foreign investment, government subsidizing innovation) and Canada addressing underpopulation (having problems but enjoying high tax revenue/free healthcare, using tech for labor shortages). Both take measures, and whether issues become advantages depends on government actions.

Nowadays,Population problems have gradually become big problems that are focused by all of the states. As for the most famous two population problems,Overpopulation and underpopulation, two countries are trying to solve these problems.
As for India, the country has suffered a lot of harms caused by overpopulation.Because of the huge population, lots of facilities have been overused and the population in some cities have already been over their carrying capacity. In other words, the population has exceeded the max number a city can support infinitely. Thus, even you can see there are some people have to hang on the bus or stand above the bus. Government tried to change this and they built new subway lines. Base on the high demand for the public transportation,New Deli and Bangalore has built up new subway lines. However, the expensive subway tickets are not affordable for the major citizens of two cities. So the heavy traffic is still existing. Economically, most of Indians are working in the primary sector which is paid a few.And their creeps are especially rices which can be used on their daily lives. Thus their demand for goods and services are relatively lower. Thus, the consume is low and nothing would encourage investment because of the low GDP. Also, in the aspect of politics, these people who live in poverty has become a kind of barrie of the development of India because the government can only get a few taxation which is not enough for government spending especially compulsory education. What’s more, most families cannot afford the high expenditure for schooling so that less people could be well-educated. Thus, the productivity and the innovation ability of Indians are low.But on the other hand, this overpopulation problem can be a benefit.India now is the second big food provider country in the world which is contributed by the warm climate and also the huge population. These sufficient population can be used in the production of agriculture. Nevertheless, the cheap labor-force may attract foreign investment to help some more Indians to find a job which is in second sector or third sector. After that, when the quantity demanded is increasing in India, more people would like to invest India companies which contributes to increase the GDP. Rest of the food would also be exported to other countries to decrease the deficit in the international trade.Government is also subsidizing the innovative companies to promote more people to establish companies of the industries in secondary and tertiary sectors in India.
However, on the other side of the world, Canada ,is suffering from underpopulation.Because of this and also the climate factor,Canada is lack of agriculture. Most of food relies on importing from other countries.Sometimes this could also lead to a big food shortage. Also, the underpopulation would cause an under-exploitation of resources which could be solved by increasing the labor force from abroad. To achieve this, government has increase the social welfare for citizens and this welfare has attracted a lot of workers from India and some other overpopulated countries. As for the society, lots of infrastructures are overbuilt in Canada because nobody would live in here. The population in the cities are also much lower than the theoretical carrying capacity. But on the hand, this can also be a benefit.Base on the tertiary sectors’ high ratio, the tax revenue for government is very high. Thus government is subsidizing the heath care and makes it almost free. Also, the living standard in Canada is very high because a lot of cities are in the situation of optimum population. Whats more, government and companies also import the HYV wheats that was invented in the green revolution.Which makes the agricultural works more effective and efficient.Canada is especially a third-sector country and the industries are particularly capital-intensive.Some unskilled jobs can be replaced by automatic machines. For examples, as for the agriculture,Canada could introduce UAV used for irrigation. This can replace the lack of workers of farmers.
All in all, population problems can be benefits but it depends on the action taken by the government.
